We have all been encouraged to adopt a different way of working, working from home. It is for the common good but that does not mean that there are no data protection implications.
Security is a key topic to address. Are people working from home set up with devices that are appropriate for confidential and company information? Do they have a secure and confidential environment, given that other family members will be sharing the same spaces currently? Do they have a secure link into company systems and have they been trained on the security issues around data in transit? Can any paperwork be stored securely and how will any waste paper be managed?
All these topics should be covered in the company’s Remote Working Policy and brought to the attention of colleagues as being particularly relevant to their current work situation.
